Information Rights Management overview

Information Rights Management (IRM) can help organizations and employees protect and have greater control over digital information, such as confidential planning documents or financial reports. You can set policies that wield greater control over who can open, copy, print, or forward information created in Microsoft Office Word 2003, Microsoft Office Excel 2003, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003, and Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. You may have IRM functionality on your PC if you have installed Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003, or if your company has installed Microsoft Windows Rights Management Service (RMS) technology on Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
